SPORT AND RECREATION
CAC Bindoon offers a variety of recreational and sporting activities that take
advantage of our rural environment.
Whilst sport is an integral part of CAC
Bindoon's curriculum, many additional activities are provided after school
hours. Along with our 25 metre swimming pool, basketball, netball and tennis
courts, cricket pitch and football oval, students can join either the Pony Club
or Cattle Club.
The annual Athletics, Swimming and Farm Skills events are highlights of CAC
Bindoon's calendar. These competitions provide an opportunity for our
students to demonstrate their sporting and other abilities such as farm skills
(which include fencing, rope tying, sheep judging, wool classing and tractor
driving) and cattle or pig judging.
The Years 8 to 12 sports program offers a variety of experiences in team sports
including basketball, cricket, tee-ball, hockey, volleyball, tennis, squash and
swimming. All year levels compete in our swimming and athletics carnivals
and students have the opportunity to be selected for inter-school competitions.
Our students are also able to join sports clubs in Bindoon, such as tennis,
football and basketball clubs.
PONY CLUB
The CAC Bindoon Pony Club provides students with an opportunity to
receive instruction in riding and equine management. Students do not need to
be able to ride to join Pony Club and can have the use of a College horse for a
small fee each term. Alternatively, students can agist their own horse on
campus if prior approval is given by the Principal - agistment application
forms are available from the school office. Pony Club members are able to
attend local events such as gymkhanas, country shows, campdrafts, cutting
events, endurance rides and hunts.
CATTLE CLUB
The CAC Bindoon Cattle Club runs during Term 2 and 3 and teaches students
the skills required for preparing and parading stud cattle. Currently two cattle
studs are operated at CAC Bindoon - a Devon Stud and a Simmental Stud.
Each Cattle Club member is assigned a beast for the year and is responsible for
its daily care, including grooming, feeding, mucking out stalls, etc. A number
of local shows are attended as well as the Perth Royal Show and our trophy and
ribbon collection is evidence of the standard of our cattle and our students.
CADETS
Mr Murray Kaye runs emergency service cadets for bushfire prevention.
Students partake in the program on Monday Nights at the college.
