RESIDENTIAL CARE

CAC Bindoon's residential care is friendly, comfortable and affordable. Four residential houses cater for our boarders: Catherine House for girls; and Edmund House, Joseph House and Benedict House for boys. The residential care supervisors from each House are professional persons who take the responsiblity for students outside of school hours.

Head of Residential Care, Mr Adrian Bolton, is responsible for the overall day-to-day running of the Houses and any communication regarding residential matters shouldbe directed to the person in charge of a particular house eg: leave, sickness or student welfare, should be directed to Joseph House Ms sam Jenner, Catherine House Ms Lee Latimer, Benedict House Mr Steve Glover and Edmund House Bro George Thornton or to Adrian.

Students may bring radio/CD players, tennis/squash racquets, boogie boards, other personal items andbicycles, skateboards which must have a proper helmut. However, very expensive items or objects of great personal value are better left at home. Personal belongings, including clothing, are not covered by College insurance and it is parents' responsibility to insure such items. All student property, especially clothing, should be clearly labelled or marked including new casual clothing.

We suggest parents allocate a minimum of $100 per term ($10/week) for pocket money. As students are not permitted to have more than $15 cash in their possession, a pocket money account is established for each student and administered by the Head of Residential Care. Pocket money is used for tuckshop purchases (pens, paper, files, drinks, lollies, personal items) and weekend outings such as the cinema, socials etc.

Midway each term there is a long weekend (Boarders' Weekend) when all students must leave the campus. This provides an opportunity for staff professional development and well as giving our students a break. Students who are unable to go home for these few days usually stay with relatives or friends. End-of-term travel is booked by our residential care staff and must be organised at least a month prior to travel. We provide transport from CAC Bindoon to the Perth airports, Midland railway station and the East Perth Terminal to assist parents with travel arrangements.

Several weekends each year are spent at Tuppin House, our large seaside camp-style house at Guilderton (Moore River). Parents are welcome to visit CAC Bindoon any time and residential students may arrange weekend leave through the Head of Residential Care provided they have not been gated for misdemeanours.
